Global Youth Service Day Collaboration
"Letters from Home"
April 12 - May 12, 2014
Who: Festival of Children Foundation, Team Kids, Operation Gratitude and South Coast Plaza are coming together to participate in Global Youth Service Day. (GYSD)
What: "Letters from Home" - Our organizations will collaborate and host a GYSD project for kids and adults to come to Carousel Court and make cards for our troops overseas. We want to set the record for the most cards written to out troops in one month. We will kick off the month of letter writing on Saturday, April 12th, Global Youth Service Day, from 12-4pm in Carousel Court at South Coast Plaza. Our goal is to collect over 10,000 letters in 30 days in an attempt to break the Guinness Record.
In addition, uniformed soldiers and officers will be on hand for photo opportunities and to interact with the crowd.
The purpose of this event is to actively be in support of and contributing to the community service efforts that our National Child Awareness Month (NCAM) Youth Ambassadors are engaged in around the country on this weekend in honor of Global Youth Service Day.
When: Kickoff: Saturday, April 12th from 12 Noon - 4 PM. Then continuing throughout the month in a national effort to have letters written by schools, service organizations, scout troops, children served by nonprofits, etc.
Where: Carousel Court, South Coast Plaza. 3333 Bristol Street, Costa Mesa, CA 92626
